A primary personality trait characterized by a tendency to be outgoing, sociable, and energized by interaction with others and the external world.
Etymology
Derived from the Latin 'extra' (outside) and 'vertere' (to turn). It was popularized by psychologist Carl Jung in the early 20th century to describe the psychological orientation of a person towards the external environment.
