An adherent of an ideology, especially one who is uncompromising, dogmatic, and rejects practical or moderate considerations in favor of strict ideological adherence.
Etymology
Derived from the French 'idéologue', which was coined in the late 18th century to describe proponents of the philosophy of ideas. It eventually evolved from a neutral term for a theorist into a pejorative term for someone blinded by their own dogma.
