Definition
The current of air or water created by a moving object, which reduces air or water resistance for anything following closely behind it.
Etymology
The word originated in the early 20th century, combining 'slip' (referring to the slippage of a propeller) and 'stream' to describe the turbulent wake created by moving vehicles.
